It’s a tradition that former course directors (CDs) are invited to share in the closing luncheon at a Wood Badge (WB) course. I have had the great fortune to be extended an invite to a couple of these this year.
You see, I am not a Wood Badge CD, but rather, a CD for a program called National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT), the youth course that trains for very much the same skills. Both WB and NYLT CDs receive the same recognition from BSA, four WB beads.
So we drove to the Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico to be with friends, cheer and sing, “Back to Gilwell…”
